Electronic visit verification (EVV)

EVV is a method that tracks and verifies timely service delivery and access to care for members. It’s like an electronic time sheet for agencies that provide in-home skilled nursing and non-skilled in-home services.

How does EVV work?

How does EVV work?

You can use a smartphone application (app), or a phone to verify the visit each time you start and finish services. If phone service isn’t available, your agency can install a device in the member’s home.

The EVV system must, at minimum, electronically verify the:

  • Type of service provided

  • Person receiving the service

  • Date of the service

  • Time service delivery begins and ends

  • Location of service delivery

  • Person providing the service

Providers and services subject to EVV

Providers and services subject to EVV

The Arizona Health Care Cost and Containment System (AHCCCS) requires certain providers and services to use EVV. Just visit the AHCCCS EVV page. Then, choose “Information for Providers and MCOs.” You can get answers to common questions about EVV on the same page.

AHCCCS has chosen Sandata Technologies as the EVV vendor. You’ll still be able to use existing EVV systems or choose an alternate EVV vendor that passes testing with Sandata.
